The Interfaith Council of Greater Sun Lakes will host a service of remembrance Sept. 11, the seventh anniversary of the terrorist attacks in New York and Washington. The service will begin at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary of the Sun Lakes United Methodist Church, 9248 E. Riggs Road. A multifaith prayer service to commemorate the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks in New York and at the Pentagon will be held at 6 p.m. Sept. 11 at Temple Emanu-El, 225 N. Country Club Road. The event will include a "fellowship dessert reception." "The measure of our character is in part the way in which we remember those who have died tragically," said Rabbi Samuel M. Cohon, in a news release inviting the public.

On the seventh anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center we will pay tribute and honor to our fallen heroes. We will have a reading of the names accompanied by a tolling of the bells, along with additional tributes. The ceremonies will begin at 2:30 PM on September 11, 2008 on the flight deck of the USS Midway, 910 North Harbor Drive, alongside Navy Pier. Services will include: Presentation of the Colors, Pipes and Drums, Honor Guards from the San Diego FD, Orange County FD, US Marine Corps, and the US Border Patrol, Singing of the Star Spangled Banner, the reading of the names, SDFD Helicopter Flyover, 21 Gun Salute, and taps.
A dinner reception will be hosted by the FDNY Retirees of California immediately following the memorial event (approximately 5:00 PM) at the Old Firehouse Museum, 1572 Columbia Street (Columbia & Cedar Streets)one block up from Little Italy on India Street. Families and friends are invited to the memorial and reception.

A 9/11/01 remembrance ceremony will be held at fire headquarters at 289 Bank Street in New London, ct on 9/11/08 at 11:30 am. The ceremony will be followed by a luncheon inside the firehouse. Des Plaines public-safety officers and veterans at 8 a.m. Sept. 11 will host a 9/11 Memorial "Patriot Day" Ceremony outside Des Plaines Civic Center, 1420 Miner St. Members of the Des Plaines Fire and Police departments, American Legion Post 36, Veterans of Foreign Wars 2992 and the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 311 will participate. VFW Post Commander Steve Schaefer, Des Plaines Police Commander Nicholas Treantafeles, Deputy Fire Chief Scott Small and media specialist William Soderberg will coordinate the event, which is expected to last a half-hour. Schaefer will serve as master of ceremonies. The program will include Mayor Anthony Arredia, James Prandini, Fire Chief Randy Jaeger and Police Officer Matthew Jones, who recently returned from duty in Iraq. Police and Fire Department representatives will conduct a presentation of wreaths. Vocalist Becky Danegger will sing the National Anthem and members of Bugles Across America will play "Taps." The American Legion Family is organizing a Legacy Walk to reflect on the lives lost on Sept. 11, renew our commitment to freedom and the values of our country and to honor our veterans, past and present. Fort Riley
Fort Riley and 1st Infantry Division leaders will hold an observance Sept. 11 to mark the 2001 terrorist attack on the United States. The event begins at 7:46 a.m., the moment the first aircraft struck New York's World Trade Center towers. Army leaders will remember the 155 soldiers, sailors and airmen deployed from Fort Riley who have been killed in combat in Iraq and Afghanistan. The names of the dead will be added to Fort Riley's Global War on Terrorism Monument near the U.S. Cavalry Museum. Brig. Gen. Perry Wiggins, commander of the 1st Infantry, is scheduled to make remarks followed by the ringing of a bell in honor of all who died during the 2001 attacks. There also will be a laying of a wreath at the monument and a 21-gun salute.

On Thursday, September 11, 2008, the New Jersey 9/11 Memorial Foundation will be holding a brief ceremony at the Central NJ Railroad Terminal in Liberty State Park. The ceremony is scheduled for 1:30pm and is expected to draw friends, colleagues, family members, survivors, and legislators to the site where the NJ 9/11 Memorial "Empty Sky" will be built.

Mantua Township
The Gloucester County Board of Freeholders, Mantua Mayor and Township Committee will hold a Patriot Day Ceremony on Thursday, September 11, in remembrance of the attacks on the United States.
The 7th anniversary memorial will be held at the Place of Reflection, inside the Chestnut Branch Park on Main Street, and will be open to the public. Once again the annual New York City commemoration ceremony will be held at Zuccotti Park, adjacent to the WTC site at Liberty Street between Broadway and Church Street/Trinity Place. Family members will be able to descend to bedrock during the ceremony. For the reading of the names, family members will be paired with international students representing the 91 countries who lost individuals. A letter from NY officials with event details will be sent to families in the coming weeks.

On September 10, 2008, Voices of September 11 will host a Day of Remembrance at the Marriott New York Downtown (85 West Street). The forum will include panel discussions, workshops and 9/11 exhibits, including updates on the 9/11 Living Memorial digital archive project and the National September 11 Memorial & Museum at the World Trade Center. City police Chief Ed McSheffery will be the keynote speaker as the Connellsville Veterans Commission pays tribute to those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001, and those who responded to the tragedies. Big Spring's first responders and military personnel will get a heartfelt thanks Sept. 11, as officials with the Hangar 25 Air Museum join forces with local residents for a special ceremony commemorating the tragedy of Sept. 11, 2001.
Meghan Bias, director of the local air museum, said the event will be Hangar 25's second effort at the memorial ceremony, which will offer a much-needed thanks to the men and women who keep us safe. The seventh annual "We Remember Walk". Honoring victims, families, survivors, and responders of the September 11th attacks as well as military and first responders nationally. Assemble at the Marine Corps Memorial (Iwo Jima) on Sept, 6th at 1PM - walk begins at 2PM to the site of the Arlington memorial.
